To work around this firmware bug, you can use an alternative way of reading the micro-sd card and copying the contents to your computers hard disk. Most of our older micro-sd cards were less than 4gb, so if you try to use your old micro-sd card the Garmin will not let you use the card until it is formatted by the GPS. If it detects a card less than 4gb, the GPS will insist that you format the card, which destroys the contents. Several variations of Garmin Drive and DriveSmart GPS units have firmware that will not support a pre-formatted micro-sd card less than 4gb in size. img files as described in the installation instructions. V1.65 of our snowmobile trail, maps avoid this bug by providing multiple map. Seems to occur most frequently when large topographical maps are such as ibycus topo for Quebec. Garmin’s Zumo and nuvi 2757 models have a quirk where they fail to display our combined trail and topographical map. The link below describes how to downgrade BaseCamp/MapInstall to a version that works. The latest version 4.7.0 of Garmin BaseCamp updates Garmin MapInstall which is unable to download and install supplemental maps (like our trail maps) to your GPS.
